If "Include workspace" is checked, then launch Folder as Workspace and load files from a saved session. When loading a session manually, we could let user decide ("Include workspace" checkbox). When loading session.xml automatically, I would ignore workspace files from it and load them only from config.xml. So session might be loaded either automatically on app startup (session.xml) or manually from the menu. I see, workspace folders are saved to config.xml. What's your solution about such incoherence? That's the incoherence we (at least I) cannot solve, if we save FaW's info in both config.xml and saved session's xml files.

  • even you open FaW manually, Z is opened instead of X & Y.
  • a, b & c are reoped, but FaW is not reopened automatically with X & Y.
  • You will observe these 2 incoherent behaviours:
  • Then I close 3 opened files, remove X & Y from FaW and add Z in FaW.
  • I save a session with 3 opened files a, b & c + FaW (Folder as Workspace) with 2 folders X & Y opened.
  • I just checked your PR again, and realized 2 incoherent behaviours (so far) in your implementation: But even this problem is solved, there's another one:

I understand, that there might be some other concerns like supporting versions before Windows Vista or something makes sense to rewrite FileDialog class to use new Common Item Dialog API IMHO. We recommended that you use the Common Item Dialog API instead of these dialog boxes from the Common Dialog Box Library. Starting with Windows Vista, the Open and Save As common dialog boxes have been superseded by the Common Item Dialog.

    for example: .

Edit the file toolbarIcons.xml: put the icon set name you want in the icoFolderName attribute (Note 3). Create a new sub-folder called toolbarIcons\ in that same folder.

Microsoft recommends to use this new API going forward: Put the file toolbarIcons.xml (Note 1) in the main configuration folder (Note 2). That might solve some of the existing and future issues. It makes sense to rewrite FileDialog class to use new Common Item Dialog API IMHO. As a bonus, it's fully native and respects the color theme (here current theme is dark).Ĭompare it to the Notepad++ save session dialog: Here I created a sample dialog and added a checkbox to it. The customized dialog looks like this on Windows 10: It allows adding custom controls to the file dialog. However, there is an option to do the customization with a Common Item Dialog API that is available starting from Windows Vista. I didn't find a way to customize that otherwise than show/hide some of the predefined parts (like directory tree). I can see that Notepad++ uses GetOpenFileName() and GetSaveFileName() functions along with OPENFILENAME struct. But the "Save As" dialog for session is the system dialog, I wonder if it's easy to add a checkbox. That's an acceptable (and good) solution. A whole world of possibilities is at hand with XML Notepad 2007.Might customize a "Save As" session dialog and add a checkbox that says "Include workspace" ☑ It is very useful for creating XML documents, forms, style sheets, advertisements, and so on. When working with this application, the only limitation is the imagination. Moreover, it is also possible to include external XML files. This allows the user to define, compile, and select XML elements. XML Notepad 2007 comes with the Microsoft XML Core tools, which are necessary if one wants to work with XML. The resulting XML document will have all the attributes defined in the selected model view. This is done by selecting the "model" dropdown menu, then clicking "create new document" and clicking "OK". In other words, the user can transform a traditional document into an XML document. One of the most common uses for XML Notepad 2007 is to convert a text document into an XML document.
